Classical Istanbul Heritage Tour

Explore the grandeur of Ottoman and Byzantine Istanbul on this carefully curated walking tour combining architecture, history, and authentic culture.

Visit the magnificent Süleymaniye Mosque, a masterpiece of Mimar Sinan and one of the most important achievements of Ottoman classical architecture. Discover the harmony of its vast dome, elegant courtyards, and sweeping views over the Golden Horn, while learning about Sinan’s role as the empire’s chief architect.

Just a short walk away, visit the modest yet deeply symbolic tomb of Mimar Sinan, often overlooked but profoundly moving. Here, learn about his life, engineering genius, and the architectural legacy he left across Istanbul and beyond.

Continue to the atmospheric Great Palace Mosaic Museum, where beautifully preserved Byzantine floor mosaics reveal scenes of hunting, animals, and daily imperial life. Gain insight into the lost Great Palace complex and the symbolism hidden in its artwork.

Enjoy a curated traditional Turkish lunch at a selected restaurant, featuring a rich variety of meze plates and a main course that reflects authentic Anatolian cuisine.

After lunch, explore the historic Arasta Bazaar, located behind the Blue Mosque. Walk through its narrow passages filled with traditional crafts, including carpets, tiles, and handmade goods, while learning how to distinguish authentic pieces from tourist items.

Step into the mysterious underground world of the Basilica Cistern (or a similar Byzantine cistern), where ancient columns, dim lighting, and the famous Medusa heads reveal the engineering brilliance of Byzantium.

Finally, walk to the symbolic Million Stone, the ancient “zero point” of the Byzantine Empire’s road system. Learn how all imperial distances were measured from this landmark, and gain a final overview of the surrounding Hippodrome of Constantinople, once the city’s political and social heart.
