Here’s a concise guided group tour plan that covers Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque area & Hippodrome), and the Grand Bazaar, with tickets included and English-speaking guide.

Tips  Suggested Itinerary 

1. Meeting Point – Sultanahmet Square - Time: Morning (e.g., 09:00) - Location: In front of the German Fountain or a clearly marked spot in Sultanahmet Square.

What happens: - Meet your guide, get headsets (if used), quick orientation of the tour route and timing.  


2. Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya-i Kebir Cami-i Şerifi) - Stop length: ~1–1.5 hours - Included: Entry/mandatory donation handled by the operator (no waiting at pay desk). - Highlights: - History from Byzantine basilica to Ottoman imperial mosque to museum and back to mosque. - Main hall, massive dome, calligraphic roundels, mosaics (where visible). - Explanation of Christian and Islamic elements together under one roof. - Notes: - Dress code: shoulders and knees covered; women may need a headscarf. - Shoes remain on (it is a mosque, but the main floor has carpeted areas with entry rules guided).  


3. Sultanahmet Mosque Area & Hippodrome (Sultanahmet Meydanı) - Stop length: ~1–1.5 hours total (outside + inside where possible) Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii) - Exterior architectural overview (six minarets, courtyard). - Interior visit if open: İznik tiles, central dome, stained glass windows. - Dress code similar to Hagia Sophia (women’s headscarves, modest clothing). Hippodrome of Constantinople - Open-air historic square right beside the Blue Mosque. - Main points: - Serpent Column - Obelisk of Theodosius - Walled Obelisk - German Fountain - Guide explains chariot races, political life, Nika Riots, and the transformation of the space over centuries.  


4. Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı) - Stop length: ~1–1.5 hours - Included: Guided walk inside (no ticket required), orientation & tips. - Highlights: - Main gates and key streets (jewelry, carpets, leather, ceramics, spices). - Brief history: from 15th century covered market to today’s labyrinth of shops. - What the guide typically helps with: - How to bargain respectfully and typical discount ranges.

Recognizing common tourist traps vs. reputable shops.

You can either stay and shop after the tour ends or leave with the group.

The Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque (Ayasofya-i Kebir Cami-i Şerifi), once the Church of Divine Wisdom, with its innovative architecture, rich history, religious significance and extraordinary characteristics has been fighting against time for centuries, was the largest Eastern Roman Church in İstanbul. Constructed three times in the same location, it is the world’s oldest and fastest-completed cathedral.

Hippodrome

Hippodrome, center of sportive events (chariot races, athletics) and political activities of the


old city. Serpentine Column, Obelisk of Theodosius and German Fountain of Wilhelm II are


the monuments decorating the Hippodrome.

Grand Covered Bazaar

Grand Covered Bazaar, most attractive shopping center and the biggest "souk" in the world


with nearly 4000 shops selling antiques, jewellery, gold, carpets, leatherware and souvenir.
